Brothers and Sisters, we wanted to share a major victory today for the FOP. In short, this is a case back in 2019 where an officer was involved in an incident and utilized force. The officer was ultimately charged with battery for said use of force. This happened at Hollywood PD which was initially a PBA lodge. Although the state attorneys office chose to no file the case, the department moved forward with terminating the officer. The FOP held a PERC election for this department and won against the PBA. Our labor council immediately took over this case, went through the grievance process and ultimately filed for arbitration. Our in house counsel Paul and Rose Daragjati worked hard and argued tough for our member and ultimately the arbitrator ruled with us and overturned the termination. Please read the legal brief from the arbitrator for the full details. This email is to highlight the hard work our labor reps and general counsel do for us day in and day out, that usually members won’t see if they never are in this position.
I want to assure you that we have some giants behind Clearwater FOP lodge 10 that are ready to go to war when our members are wronged.
